White Light is one of the world’s leading lighting suppliers to the entertainment industry. Founded in 1971, they provide the equipment to the vast majority of West End shows and live events in the capital.
Bryan Raven, Managing Director at White Light, released this statement on TfL’s cycle superhighway plans:
‘White Light Ltd would like to back the new plans for the East/West and North/South cycle superhighways. We as a business value our employees’ health as well as that of all Londoners.
‘Our background in theatre means we really understand deadlines—the show must go on! However, we also know what makes our business such a success, and that is our staff and the thousands of technicians and designers that we collaborate with. These people are an asset, and we value them.
‘A great deal of our staff ride to work, and many more enjoy riding in their own time. (30 staff out of 150 commute to work by bike.)
‘We know that protected lanes make life safer for them, and encourages more people to cycle. We recently conducted a survey of our staff and twelve more people said they would cycle to work if they felt safer.
‘Our fleet of nine vehicles has a fantastic safety record, and we want to keep on being safe around Londoners. The entertainment industry plays a massive part in the life (and economy) of this city, and we are proud to be part of it. Its changing nature is what makes it so exciting. These new plans are part of that change and we fully back them.’
