Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust support ‘Crossrail for Bikes’ plans

imperial-nhs-logoImperial College Healthcare is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England, and manages five hospitals in central London. It treats over 1.2 million patients a year and employs nearly 10,000 people.

Dr. Tracey Batten is the Chief Executive of Imperial College Healthcare. She wrote a letter (PDF) to TfL today to support the Cycle Superhighway plans:

I am writing on behalf of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, to confirm the Trust’s support for the new cycling safety scheme proposals which will implement 2 kerb-segregated cycle superhighways in central London.

Many of our staff and volunteers currently cycle to our hospitals and I have no doubt that more people would be encouraged to use this method of transport to travel to work if they had a safe route to use. As a major employer and health provider in the area, an initiative like this will support the delivery of one of our key priorities: to improve the health and wellbeing of our people as well as improving cycling safety for our local community.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Tracey Batten
Chief Executive
